My Land Acknowledgment

As an immigrant and an uninvited guest, I am deeply grateful for the privilege to live, study, and work across diverse Indigenous territories. I acknowledge that my primary residence and professional work take place on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded lands of the Semiahmoo, sq̓əc̓iy̓aɁɬ təməxʷ (Katzie), sc̓əwaθenaɁɬ təməxʷ (Tsawwassen), S’ólh Téméxw (Stó:lō), W̱SÁNEĆ, and Kwantlen Nations. I also extend this acknowledgment to the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc territory within the unceded ancestral lands of the Secwépemc Nation, which hosts me during my time pursuing higher education and teacher training in Kamloops.

As a future educator, I believe it is my responsibility to actively participate in the process of Truth and Reconciliation. I commit to ongoing learning and unlearning, to introducing inclusive practices in my STEM classrooms. I want to pay my highest respects to the Ancestors, hereditary leaders, and Elders of all these Nations—past, present, and emerging—and extend that deep respect to all Indigenous individuals who reside, care for, and give life to these beautiful territories.”

My Journey & Background

Hi! I’m currently in the BEd STEM program, and my teachable subjects are Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics, and Physics. Originally from Guangzhou, China, I am now based in British Columbia and will be teaching primarily in the Surrey or Vancouver area.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from UBC, a Master’s degree in Applied Data Analytics from ANU (Australian National University), and an Independent School Teaching Certificate.

Beyond the Classroom

When I am not teaching, I enjoy balancing my time between a few favorite interests and daily comforts:

• Adventure: I love scuba diving and exploring the outdoors.
• Creative Outlets: I enjoy reading fiction, watching horror movies, and working on embroidery.
• Daily Comforts: I’m consistently powered by a good cup of tea and spending time with my family cat.
